History |
|
| |
 |
The ancient
city of Nashik had developed on both the banks
of Godavari, which divided the city into almost
equal halves. The History of the city dates back
to Ramayana. There are many references of the
city in many epics as well as vedas. The city,
since old days, has developed on the banks with
basically the design of a religious place. In
addition, Nashik has always been the epicentre
of commerce and trade. Ptolemy, the famous philosopher
made a mention of Nashik in 150 BC, leading researchers
to believe that it was probably the country's
largest market place during that period.

Nashik, the
district head quarter located on the banks of
Godavari is one of the vertices of the Golden
Triangle formed with Mumbai 185 km away and Pune
200 km away. The climate is cool most of the year
round and is located at 635 m above mean sea level.
This makes Nashik an ideal get-away from the hustle
and bustle of the busy life. Today the city is
developing into a metropolis with a population
of 14 lakh.

Nashik is a
bustling township with a blend of the ancient
and the modern. Scattered across the city are
numerous forts and majestic temples. But it is
also the home to many industries. The Security
Printing Press of the government, which prints
the nation's currency, is located here. Satpur
and Ambad Industrial Area in Nashik is home to
many multi national and large industries along
with ancillary small & medium scale industries.
Recently Govt. of Maharashtra has renewed its
interest to create a 5-star Industrial Zone at
Malegaon near Sinnar, 25 km from Nashik. Apart
from the established industries, BPO (Call Centre)
industries have already started to move in to
Nashik in numbers, which will definitely push
up the demand for the residential units in the
very near future.

After Pune,
Nashik is fast becoming the Education Hub of Maharashtra.
Apart from the YCMOU and North Maharashtra Health
University already set up in Nashik, several engineering
colleges, MBA colleges have been operating in
